Foundation Phase Curriculum (3 ‒ 7 Years)
We follow the Foundation Phase Curriculum which is based on developing the childrenʼs skills in the 7 Areas of Learning: 1. Personal and Social Development, Well-being and Cultural Diversity 2. Language, Literacy and Communication Skills 3. Mathematical Development 4. Welsh language Development 5. Knowledge and Understanding of the World 6. Physical Development 7. Creative Development Emphasis is placed on developing skills and knowledge in a cross curricular way through play and active involvement. We provide a thematic approach to teaching and learning, by giving the children first hand experiences which enables them to experiment and explore, problem solve, and make decisions. We use the outdoor as an extension of the learning environment and give the children opportunities to be creative, imaginative, take risks, and have fun whilst learning.
Skills Based Curriculum for Key Stage 2 (7 - 11 years)
The school is developing a thematic curriculum rooted in the locality. The essential skills of communication, number, ICT and Thinking will permeate all areas. The curriculum will take place within an integrated theme where it is meaningful and relevant. Children will be encouraged to develop, in line with the four core purposes that will help them become:-
